A vigorous, low-maintenance rose! This show-stopping Floribunda rose is sure to add that wow factor to your garden. Plants are uniform and compact, yet produce endless waves of fragrant flowers throughout summer. Flowers are deep pink to purple in the classic double form, nearly glowing in the summer sun.
This deciduous shrub is extremely disease resistant, displaying shiny, green foliage for the entire growing season. No deadheading is required to maintain the production of its vibrant flowers. Growing to a height of 3-5 feet tall, the Purple Prince rose is ideal for mixed borders, containers, and mass plantings, and makes a beautiful specimen plant in any landscape. Flowers can be cut and used in floral arrangements. The sweet aroma and eye-catching nature of these flowers make them a staple both inside and outside of the home.
Brindabella Roses™ Purple Prince Rose Care
Purple Prince rose needs full sun for optimal blooms. Plant in well-drained soil and water consistently until established. Plants may need additional watering during periods of drought. Mulching helps to retain soil moisture. These roses do well in slightly acidic soils of 5.5-6.5 pH. Compost or other organic matter can be added at time of planting to achieve soil fertility. Apply slow-release fertilizer each spring after planting. Adequate fertilization is important to promote abundant growth and flowering.
No deadheading is required for these beauties! Flushes of flowers are produced every 6-8 weeks. Pruning can be performed to reduce or maintain height of this shrub. Simply cut back stems by a third to a half in late winter or very early spring, before flowering begins. This plant performs well in zones 4-9. For winter care, wait for the entire plant to go dormant, and then add about 5-8 extra inches of mulch to the base of the plant. If planted in containers, plants can be brought inside a shed or garage after dormancy. If this is not possible, the potted plants should be moved to a sheltered location (such as the side of a house), mulched heavily, watered as needed, with the sides of the pot wrapped with burlap to insulate the soil.
Brindabella Roses™ Purple Prince Rose Spacing
This rose grows to a width of 3-4 feet, and should be spaced at about 3 feet for enough room to grow. Site plants where they can be enjoyed, with ample air circulation and light.
