Showy clusters of double white, citrus-fragrant flowers appear in late spring, bringing a bright, cheery, fresh feeling to any landscape! A profusion of white flowers in spring fills the air with the fragrance of fresh-cut oranges.
Free flowering, low maintenance, cold hardy, and disease resistant, Buckley’s Quill Mock Orange is a treat for the senses. Its mature size can be 5-6 ft tall and 4-5 ft wide. It grows in USDA Hardiness zones 4-8.
Buckley's Quill Mock Orange Care
Place this fragrant, showy shrub where you can readily enjoy it. While Buckley’s Quill is very adaptable to many soil types and environmental conditions, it ideally appreciates being planted in full to partial sun, in well-draining soils. It will produce the best flower display planted in a location where it receives 6 hours of direct sunlight. It will not tolerate standing in water for long, so well-draining soil is key.
Buckley’s Quill Mock Orange truly requires little care or maintenance once planted in a good environment. It can be grown in large containers with ample drainage holes, ideally on a patio, deck, or near a walkway, where it can be thoroughly enjoyed. When planted in a container, cut back 35% of the branches directly after it has finished blooming to maintain a more compact profile. Add a couple of inches of natural mulch around the root line to maintain soil moisture and keep the roots cool.
Buckley's Quill Mock Orange Spacing
Buckley’s Quill can be planted as a floriferous, fragrant hedge or as an individual specimen. Be sure to plant it near walkways, porches, or patios where you can thoroughly enjoy its intoxicating fragrance when in bloom. Space Buckley’s Quill Mock Orange approximately 5 ft apart from other shrubs, center on center.
