Caesars Brother Siberian Iris, or Iris sibirica Caesar's Brother is an adaptable, herbaceous perennial Iris with upright dark-purple standards and flaring violet falls with white to gold centers. This beardless beauty grows in clumps of thin, grassy-like leaves that produce slender stems up to 3 feet tall, each holding 2 to 5 blossoms that bloom in mid-summer. It is a vigorous plant that spreads from 24 to 30 inches and succeeds in areas where other varieties may not.
Native to Europe and Asia, this award-winning Siberian Iris is a favorite amongst gardeners. It is deciduous in winter and grows quickly to its mature height. The Caesars Brother Siberian Iris works well as a cut flower, and florists love the deep purple blooms for their showy flair. They are easy-to-grow, deer resistant, and low-maintenance. Especially after they are established.
Caesar's Brother Siberian Iris Care
The Caesars Brother Siberian Iris prefers full or partial sun, but can tolerate dappled shade in hotter areas. In order to thrive, it needs moist, well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. However, this variety of Iris is highly adaptable and is more successful in very moist soils than other varieties.
In colder areas, Caesars Brother Siberian Iris should be planted in early spring to late summer. In milder areas, it is better to plant in the fall. This variety should be watered liberally after planting until it is well-established. It is best to leave these velvety flowers alone, as deadheading them will not prolong their bloom.
Caesar's Brother Siberian Iris Spacing
The Caesars Brother Siberian Iris should be spaced 18 to 24 inches apart. They are stunning when planted en masse or along borders, and can be grown in watery areas near pools and ponds. It is a gorgeous reedy plant that is perfect for ceramic pots and containers.
