Dalina® Grande Cancun is a hybrid Dahlia that has burgundy flowers with white tips. It has 2–3-inch fully double flowers that make lovely cut flowers. This Dahlia blooms continuously from spring through the first frost.  Deer do not like this Dahlia, but butterflies and hummingbirds love it.

Dahlias are originally from the high elevations of Mexico and Central America.  The plant looks nice whether grown in the landscape as a mixed border or as a specimen plant. The bright flowers make it the main event in a container.

Dalina Grande Cancun Dahlia Care

This Dahlia needs to be fertilized regularly with a water-soluble fertilizer.  The flowers will keep coming if you do not deadhead, but the plant will look tidier if you do.  Dahlias need an average amount of water and lots of sun to grow well.  The soil should be well drained because they do not like wet feet.

Since Dahlias are originally from Mexico and Central America, they don’t do cold weather very well.  Dahlias will grow indoors in a pot during the winter, then can be placed outdoors after the danger of frost is over.

Dalina Grande Cancun Dahlia Spacing

If you want to grow Dahlia in a pot, you will need to get one that is three gallons or larger to counterbalance its height, which can be up to 18 inches.  If growing in the landscape, space the plant 12-15 inches apart so when it spreads out, up to 18 inches, it won’t be too crowded.
