Great combination of plants for shaded garden areas!
Plants Included In Gloria Rose Annual Combination
Fully double, medium pink, and rose-like, impatiens set the stage for a beautiful symphony of color and texture in this latest combination of spring and summer annuals. Chosen for their complementary pink and white colors and their contrasting form and textures, they will perform beautifully and you will sing the praises of this group of annuals. What a glorious combination!
Pink polka dot plant, Hypoestes phyllostachya, has a major presence of its own with its deep fuchsia pink and green dotted leaves that peak out from under the masses of impatiens in this combination and create quite a diversion to the otherwise flowery display. Frilly white spikes of euphorbia round out the visual appeal with their baby's breath-like blooms to break up all that pink lusciousness. You will not be disappointed with the performance this combination will give you this summer!
Gloria Rose Annual Combination Care
Euphorbia and hypoestes require well draining soil and impatiens like soil to be moderately moist at all times. Use a compost rich well draining soil to meet both requirements. Planting in light bright shade will ensure optimal health of these annuals. Regular feeding with a water soluble fertilizer during the summer and a regular watering regimen will result in multitudes of blossoms and rich color all summer long. These are not fussy plants once established and are given the growing environment they crave.
Choose a 12 inch diameter patio container for best performance and space plants up to 12 inches apart. Growing 18 to 24 inches tall at maturity, these lively annuals will create a compact rounded appearance when planted in a hanging basket or patio container. Trimming to maintain this compact appearance and to promote additional branching and new blooms in mid season is recommended and will help to reduce chances that the hypoestes will flower which slows or stops its prolific production of the beautiful pink and green leaves. Deadheading is not required as the other two plants will drop their spent blooms.
Gloria Rose Annual Combination Ideas
All three annuals make wonderful houseplants if you can find a way to mimic their outdoor preferences and this is a great way to extend your season of color. Bright filtered light and warm temperatures are not too hard to recreate inside the house, but you will have to provide adequate humidity by either misting plants occasionally, or providing a pebble tray filled with water under the container. It is vitally important that the plants do not sit in trays of water as this will cause the soil to become soggy and promote root rot. In either setting, you will enjoy this combination of color and texture all summer long.
