This grass is a North American native with an upright, spreading growth habit. It is able to tolerate wet, poorly draining soils. In container planting, Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush is great for the role of the ‘filler’ in ‘thriller, filler, spiller’ designs. Its unique texture and shape will elevate any planting.
Graceful Grasses® Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush Care
In order for Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush to thrive, plant it in a location that receives full to part sun, 4 - 6 hours of sunlight minimum. This plant is able to tolerate boggy areas and poorly draining soil. Select a location that will stay moderately moist through the growing season. Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush has average fertilization requirements. Use a general-purpose landscape fertilizer once in the spring and again during midsummer.
The only pruning necessary for this plant is an annual trimming. Cut your Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush back to the ground during the late winter or early spring, before new growth emerges.
Graceful Grasses® Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush Spacing
Space Curly Wurly Corkscrew Rush about 20 inches apart for best growth results. This plant is great for borders and containers, but it may need more frequent watering when planted in a container.
