Hardy Daisy Gardenia (Gardenia radicans) is a compact evergreen shrub prized for its fragrant, creamy white flowers and glossy, dark green foliage. Blooming from late spring through summer, this hardy variety brings timeless beauty and a sweet floral fragrance to garden beds, borders, and containers. Its upright, mounding habit makes it an excellent choice for foundation plantings, entryways, and patio gardens where its blooms can be enjoyed up close.

Gardenias are well known for their intoxicating scent, and Hardy Daisy does not disappoint. With proper care, it rewards gardeners with continuous summer blooms that attract pollinators while adding elegance to any landscape.

Hardy Daisy Gardenia Care

Plant Hardy Daisy Gardenia in acidic, well-drained soil with regular watering to help the shrub establish. Continue watering as needed during the growing season, especially during hot, dry periods. Prune lightly in summer after the flowering period, watering deeply before pruning to reduce stress. Avoid pruning after late summer to protect next year’s buds. Fertilize with a balanced 15-5-10 fertilizer after pruning, and mulch around the base to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.

Hardy Daisy Gardenia Growth & Spacing

This evergreen shrub grows with a naturally rounded shape, reaching about 3 to 4 feet tall and wide at maturity. For landscape plantings, space shrubs approximately 4 feet apart, measuring from the center of each plant. Hardy Daisy Gardenia also adapts well to container gardening when planted in pots with acidic soil mix and placed in a sunny to partially shaded location.
