Growing Zones
The deep pink double blooms of the Henry™ III Pink Aster are ideal for adding some late-season color to your garden. Producing zinnia-like flowers, the Aster novi-belgii 'III Pink' as it is also known will flower from late summer into the fall. With a mature height of around 1 to 2 feet, it would be wrong not to squeeze it in somewhere.
Rarely grazed by passing deer or rabbits, Henry™ III is known to attract bees and butterflies. This aster is tough and hardy down to zone 5. It looks great when added to the front of a border or to a container. It is also perfect for providing a swath of color when growing en masse.
Henry™ III Pink Aster Care
For the best floral display, plant the Henry™ III Pink Aster in full sun. When it comes to the soil, it prefers a well-drained substrate and will tolerate most soil types. Water deeply and often for the first growing season, after which it can cope with dry spells. Avoid overwatering as this can lead to root rot; if anything, it is best to err on the drier side. Fertilizing is not strictly required. Instead, you can give it a boost by mulching with organic matter in the spring.
Deadhead after flowering to encourage new buds to form. In early winter, cut back spent growth to a few inches above the soil. If grown in a planter, more frequent irrigation will be necessary to prevent the soil from completely drying out.
Henry™ III Pink Aster Spacing
The Henry™ III Pink Aster remains compact with a final size of 18 inches tall and 24 inches wide. Multiple plants can be grown at a spacing of around 24 inches.
