Create a country cottage vibe in your outdoor space with the Hidden Cottage Container Garden. The clusters of blue blooms on the Superbena® Imperial Blue™ and contrasted against the yellow-throated blue flowers of the Supertunia® Blue Skies and the purple and white striped flowers of the Superbena® Stormburst. These mounding plants bloom spring through frost for consistent color.
These easy-care plants are not fussy and can handle the warm temperatures of summer and the occasional dry spell while still looking amazing. Pollinators like hummingbirds and butterflies are drawn to the flowers, and Verbena is known to be deer resistant for added convenience.
Hidden Cottage Container Garden Combo Care
This Verbena and Petunia combination can be planted in a 10-inch container. These beauties need partial to full sun to look their best, so find a spot that receives at least 4 but not much more than 6 hours of light. While these plants are drought-tolerant, keep up with a water routine to maintain good health. Petunias and Verbena have average water needs, and container-grown plants will need water when the top couple inches of soil feels dry. The soil should be rich and neutral to slightly acidic.
Deadheading is unnecessary, but pinching back spent blooms will encourage more rapid growth and more flowers. Apply balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month during the growing season.
Hidden Cottage Container Garden Combo Ideas
The Hidden Cottage Container Garden is versatile and will look lovely grouped into a shared container. The plants trail, so feature them in a hanging basket to admire the stems. Plant these stunners in a container, and the vibrant colors will dress up a porch or patio. Petunias and Verbenas are also great landscape plants that can be used as a groundcover.
