Lobelia is a showy perennial with large flowers that requires very little maintenance to thrive. The Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia is a long-blooming plant loaded with flowers that start in the spring and go through the summer and fall. The bell-shaped flowers are a clean white that will stand out if planted with other flowering plants or make a strong statement in a solo mass planting. The Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia is a perennial in USDA zones 9, 10, and 11 and is an annual in all other zones.

There are 415 different species of Lobelia, and the Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia is native to southern Africa. The large and striking blooms are what make this plant so appealing. The Lobelia has thin, green foliage that adds to the lush appearance of this mounding plant, but the foliage is not always visible due to the abundance of flowers. Lobelia is a favorite with bees and will attract these pollinators to your yard.

Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia Plant Care

As with all plants, the location matters, but the Lobelia does not require much care once you find a good spot. Lobelia needs part sun to sun, so 4 to 6 hours of sunlight exposure is plenty. Any less, and the plant will fail to thrive but much more, and the plant may not bloom. Water when the top few inches of the soil dry out. Lobelia plants do not like wet feet, which means they cannot handle consistently damp conditions or standing water. Soil should be well-draining and slightly acidic soil with a pH between 5.5 and 6.5.

Lobelia is self-cleaning, and spent blooms naturally fall off the plant. Deadheading is unnecessary, but if the plant looks scraggly or leggy, a slight trim will clean it up and promote more branching and flowers. The Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia is more heat-tolerant than other varieties of Lobelia, but the plant may stop blooming if the overnight temperature is above 70 degrees. The plant will appear healthy and green, but new flowers will not open until the nighttime temperature dips below 70 degrees.

Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia Plant Spacing

Laguna® Cloud White™ Lobelia is an excellent filler for containers, and this mounding plant can reach 6 to 12 inches tall. If used in a container, up to 5 plants can comfortably fit into a 12-inch pot. When grown as a landscape planting, Lobelia can overtake an area 12 to 24 inches across and should be spaced 12 to 18 inches apart.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
