Lemon Thyme Plant Care
Plant Lemon Thyme Plant in full sun, in rich, moist, but well-drained soil with a neutral pH. This plant naturally spreads out and is a good groundcover, so give it room and space plants about 12 inches apart. Harvest the stems as needed and lightly prune to encourage branching and rejuvenate growth.
Growing Lemon Thyme Plant
Harvest leaves for use fresh or dried at any time during the growing season. Lemon Thyme Plant grows 4 to 6 inches tall but will spread out 20 to 24 inches wide.
The Lemon Thyme Plant is at home in an herb garden and does very well in a container, allowing this plant to be grown on a porch or patio or inside. Plants grown indoors will need to be placed in a sunny south-facing window. Select a container that is 8- to 10-inches wide and has drainage. The reaching branches will spill over the sides and create a cascade of foliage.
Watering Lemon Thyme Plant
Keep the soil moist and water Lemon Thyme when the top few inches of soil are dry. Plants grown in containers, especially in full sunlight, need water frequently. When grown as a houseplant, feel the soil and water when the top 3 inches are dry.
Feeding Lemon Thyme Plant
Thyme plants are not heavy feeders. While the Lemon Thyme Plant can easily live in poor-quality soil, plants in rich soil do not need to be fed. Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring if the soil is nutrient depleted.
