Here comes the sun! Watch Lucious Goldengate Lantana light up your garden for months of low-maintenance color in a rich gold that shines like pure happiness. So much beauty on such a tough flower. They grow about 20-30 inches tall and wide, and will make containers, windowboxes, and borders glow all the way until they meet a hard frost. Butterflies and hummingbirds both adore lantana, bringing life, color, and pollinators to your landscape.
Lantanas have a deserved reputation for thriving on neglect, and award-winning Luscious Goldengate is no exception, shrugging off high temperatures and needing little extra water, especially when planted in the landscape. There’s no need to worry about constant deadheading the prolific flowers. They grow in an upright habit about 20-30 inches tall and wide, and will make containers, window-boxes, and borders glow all the way until they meet a hard frost.
Luscious® Goldengate Lantana Care
Full sun locations are ideal for lantanas; they can even manage poor soil. Pruning is only needed if desired for shaping, if flowering slows during extreme heat, or if you are seeing a significant berry set, in which case you can deadhead berries as needed. For best performance and continuous bloom, provide fertilizer at planting in garden beds, and regularly in containers.
Note: The Humane Society of America cites lantana leaves as toxic to pets.
Luscious® Goldengate Lantana Spacing
In the ground, give this plant 18-24 inches to spread. In a container, lantana can be a filler or a spiller. Although not a true spiller, it will soften the edges of a container in graceful curves. The branches arc down and up again as if reaching to offer up its blooms to us.
While they are often used as annuals planted to bloom in late spring through fall, when given the chance, in mild winter climates, they can mature into medium-sized landscape shrubs.
