The frilly foliage of the Nagoya Red Flowering Kale makes a colorful and leafy accent in a mixed planting or creates a one-of-a-kind mass planting. The botanical name is Brassica oleracea var. acephala 'Nagoya Red’, and the foliage grows in a rosette. The outer leaves are dark green with light green midribs and veining. The inner leaves are a vibrant reddish-purple. The Nagoya Red Flowering Kale is a beautiful ornamental plant, and the foliage colors intensify and become more saturated as the temperatures dip in late summer and fall.
The mounded, upright growth habit of the Nagoya Red Flowering Kale works well in a mixed bed, border, or container. Plant it near the front of a mixed planting, so its leafy good looks are visible, or use this kale as a thriller in a mixed container. Group several plants for a bold mass planting.
Nagoya Red Flowering Kale Care
