Scarlet Begonias might get all the attention, but once you grow Nonstop® White, you’ll be ready to write some songs of your own in their honor. These brilliant white beauties light up a shady garden or patio with bright white double flowers that bloom all summer. Perfect for shade gardens, moon gardens, patio pots, and shaded containers, Nonstop® White Begonias are heat tolerant and need less than four hours of sunlight a day. They make incredible cut flowers, as well. Your bouquets will shine with these!
Nonstop® White Begonias have an upright growing habit that can reach a height of 12 inches in ideal conditions. They are a lovely “filler” plant in combination container plantings, and are a favorite annual in the landscape. The bright white blooms add light and contrast to complement its companions.
Nonstop® White Begonia Care
Plant your Begonias in a shaded area that gets no more than four hours of sunlight per day. Water the soil evenly and provide a balanced fertilizer regularly for potted plants. Tuberous begonias are known to be susceptible to powdery mildew. If you spot powder-like growth on your Begonias, avoid applying high-nitrogen fertilizer in the late summer. Take care to water the soil and not the leaves of the plant. Remove any affected parts of the plants and prune the plant so that leaves do not become overcrowded. Chemical control methods for powdery mildew include sulfur, neem oil, Triforine and potassium bicarbonate.
Tuberous Begonias are grown from tubers that can be dug up and stored over the winter and replanted in the spring. To store your tubers for the spring, allow frost to kill the top of the plant and cut back the dead growth. Wash the tubers and allow them to dry. Wrap them in paper or pack them in peat moss, label and store in a cool, dry place between 35-45°F. Do not allow them to freeze.
Nonstop® White Begonia Spacing
Nonstop® White Begonias grow up to 12” high and 16” wide. When planting them into a garden bed or landscape, allow for 12-16” space between plants. Begonias planted in containers can be planted as close as 8” together.
