In autumn, when the other flowering plants in your gardens are winding down October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia begins to blossom. October Magic Pink Perplexion is a good name for this plant because it struts its magic in October and the pink shades of its blossoms are perplexing to describe. The plant will be covered in stunning 2 to 3-inch-wide double multi-hued pink blossoms until mid-winter. Camellia sasanqua 'Green 03-016' is evergreen so its leaves will provide year-round color in your garden.

This plant will grow to a mature size of 4 to 5 feet tall and wide with a mounded shape in full sun to part shade conditions. It should be grown outdoors in the limited USDA hardiness zone range of 7 to 9. Gardeners in colder climates can grow this plant in a container and move it indoors during the colder months. You may have to prune it unless you have plenty of indoor space. October Magic Pink Perplexion Camelias can be used as an accent plant, in groups, hedges, foundation plants, or even against a wall or fence trimmed and trained in espalier form.

October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia Care

In general, camellias prefer moist but well-drained acidic soils rich in organic matter. They will tolerate full sun conditions but prefer morning sun and shade or filtered sunlight in the afternoon. Spring is the best time to top dress with fertilizer. Water during extended periods of drought but be careful not to overwater them.

Pruning October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia doesn't require pruning. These shrubs are low maintenance. If you feel pruning is needed to limit its growth or to create a certain shape, prune in early spring after the blossoms have faded.

October Magic Pink Perplexion Camellia Spacing

Space plants 3 feet apart to create a hedge or solid grouping and 6 or more feet apart if you want room for other plants between them.
