Phlox are summer stunners in any garden, and Opening Act White Phlox displays its creamy white flowers throughout summer. Phlox are native to North America. Opening White is a hybrid that resists mildew and disease. Its dark green foliage provides a glossy background for the dense but delicate white flower clusters. You will flock to the fragrance of the blooms, and so will bees, butterflies and hummingbirds.
Opening Act White Phlox grows to about 20 inches high and wide. Its size, fragrance and unusual white blooms make it a perfect featured thriller in a container. A row or border of Opening Act White Phlox will make a bold and elegant statement against a wall or fence, along a driveway or taller before plants. Imagine a mass planting, or large grouping, of this white phlox as a landscape focal point. The plants continue to look attractive in winter, even after flowers fade.
Opening Act White Phlox Care
Give Opening Act White Phlox full sun exposure for best growth and health. It needs average water and displays the most flowers with some regular fertilization beginning in spring. Although your phlox requires no pruning, you can encourage it to rebloom by removing faded flowers. Opening Act is cold hardy to zone 4, but adding a thin layer of mulch can help prevent it from winter freeze damage. This phlox hybrid can tolerate heat up to zone 8.
Opening Act White Phlox Spacing
For borders and mass plantings, plant Opening Act White Phlox 18 to 20 inches apart from center to center. Although this phlox resists mildew, your plant will benefit from good air circulation.
