Growing Zones
Bred by David Austin, the Queen of Sweden Rose certainly deserves pride of place. Forming apricot-pink, upward-facing cups that turn soft pink with age, the Queen of Sweden will not disappoint. This English shrub rose is a repeat bloomer with wonderfully scented flowers and a manageable height of just 5 feet.
The Queen of Sweden English Rose forms an upright and bushy shape of dark green foliage that beautifully sets off the glowing flowers. A myrrh scent makes the flowers a delight whether left on the shrub or cut for a vase. This royal beauty is perfect for growing as a specimen, adding to a mixed border, or forming an informal low hedge.
Queen of Sweden English Rose Care
The Queen of Sweden Rose is happy in full sun to partial shade. As with other English roses, she prefers a rich and loamy soil with good drainage. Best grown in consistently moist soil, Queen of Sweden requires frequent watering during the growing season to prevent the soil from drying out. An organic, slow-release rose feed applied as directed will help maintain plant health and encourage the best blooms.
As the flowers go over, deadhead to encourage new buds to appear. In late winter, using clean and sharp pruners, cut the stems back by about 30% to an outward-facing bud.
Queen of Sweden English Rose Spacing
Over time, the Queen of Sweden Rose can grow to 5 feet tall and 3 feet across. If planted in a group, you can space each plant around 3 feet apart.
