Rose lovers appreciate a classic pink rose, and Reminiscent Pink gives them that traditional look and fragrance in spades. The pretty pink blooms have more petals than old-fashioned pink roses, plus the plant is bred to resist common rose diseases and take summer heat. Only now available in North America, this hybrid comes from a Serbian breeder who wanted to mix the best features of modern hybrids with the classic look of flowers from decades past.
The low-growing Reminiscent Pink thrives in zones 4 through 9. Reaching about 3 to 4 feet high and 2 feet wide at maturity, the shrub boasts classic green foliage as well. The blooms feature a darker pink center and lighter pink petals around the outside of the heavily fragrant flowers. Since it blooms continuously through summer, be sure to place this shrub where you can enjoy the colors and scents all season. The rose needs no deadheading, so you can easily care for more than one, maybe enough to create a 4-foot high border along a sidewalk, patio, or garden bed.
Reminiscent™ Pink Rose Care
Reminiscent Pink Rose need full sun, at least 6 hours a day. Plant your container rose in the spring for best results, or after the danger of frost has passed in your area. Water consistently to keep the soil around the rose evenly moist throughout spring and summer. Apply water low, near the roots instead of spraying the foliage. Start your rose off with basic nutrients by applying compost or composted manure when planting and then using organic or slow-release fertilizers throughout summer, according to product directions.
Reminiscent Pink is a self-cleaning rose, meaning there is no need to remove faded blooms to encourage more flowering. Prune the shrub in spring, removing any dead branches and cutting it to the shape you prefer. You can lightly prune off branches for appearance or remove flowers for cutting during the growing season. Other than that, care is simple for this little stunner.
Reminiscent™ Pink Rose Spacing
Give all roses a little air circulation for best health. If you want several in a border or grouping, place them far enough from each other and other plants or structures to allow room for growth, typically spacing them about 1.5 to 2 feet apart.
