The Safari Sunrise Aloe is a low-maintenance beauty that features loads of lush foliage and striking flowers. Tall flower spikes grow from the center of the plant and are decked out in rows and rows of two-tone blooms. The tube-shaped flowers are pinkish-orange and fade into a cream color. This plant will repeatedly bloom from summer through winter, although expect peak blooms fall through mid-winter.

The flowers are certainly part of the draw of this plant, but the foliage is not to be overlooked. The thick leaves have two rows of soft teeth and are green with grayish-blue hues. This plant is fast-growing and provides color into the winter. It is also drought- and heat-tolerant, meaning it will be right at home in a Xeriscape garden. The Safari Sunrise Aloe will make a statement whether planted on its own in a bed or container, part of a mass planting, or used as ground cover. This plant is a perennial in USDA growing zones 9 through 11.

Safari Sunrise Aloe Plant Care

As a succulent, the Safari Sunrise Aloe is very easy to maintain. This plant prefers full sun to part shade and has low water needs. Water once or twice a week for the first year, but the plant will not need much water once established. Aloe plants in pots will need water weekly when actively growing. Aloe can easily handle rocky or sandy soil, both of which promote drainage and will help this plant thrive. Feed the plant once a year in the spring. Remove the flower spike once the flowers fade, but Aloe plants generally do not require much pruning.

If grown in a pot, the Safari Sunrise Aloe will need to be brought indoors for winter in cold regions. Place potted Aloe plants in a spot with lots of bright indirect light, average humidity, and water when the soil dries out.

Safari Sunrise Aloe Plant Spacing

Leave about 2 feet between Aloe plants when planting in the ground to create a continuous wall of greenery. Space the plants about 4 feet apart if you want the plant to be more of a focal point, or give this clump-forming plant room to spread out. The Safari Sunrise Aloe will be about 1.5 feet tall and 3 feet wide.
