Hosta is a hardy plant that thrives with little care and adds lush greenery to shady areas unsuitable for many other plants. The Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta features wedge-shaped, ruffled foliage that is broad at the base and narrow to a gentle point that slightly curves. Pronounced veining radiates out from the central midrib. The foliage is blue-green with yellow variegation along the edges.
The Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta thrives in full shade. Feature this hosta along a foundation wall or fence, use it as an understory planting, or create a bed or border in a shady spot. Light purple flowers bloom on tall spikes during the summer and attract hummingbirds. This plant is an herbaceous perennial in zones 3 through 9.
Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta Care
Plant the Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta in full to part shade. This plant can handle about 4 hours of sunlight. The soil should be neutral to acidic, rich, and well drained. Established plants do not need much water, but give the plant a drink during a hot, dry period. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in the spring for best results.
Remove dead or damaged growth throughout the growing season and cut back the flower stalks when the blooms fade. Hostas are herbaceous perennials, and the foliage can be cut back when the weather turns cold.
Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta Spacing
The Shadowland® Voices in the Wind Hosta grows in a rosette formation and features a full and mounded form. Mature plants stand 1 to 2 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. Create a group planting by spacing hosta plants 3 to 4 feet apart.
