Simply Color® Grandiflora Rose is simply the best yellow rose. This beautiful, fully double Grandiflora-type rose blooms nonstop through the summer and requires little care. The multi-blooming flower stems make instant bouquets when cut for arrangements. The disease-free foliage is dense and dark green making this rose a lovely addition to an established rose garden or a specimen in a cottage garden.
Simply Color® Roses are grown on their own rootstock, making these shrub roses very hardy and able to withstand winter easily with little damage. Heat and humidity are no match for the hearty and prolific flowers. While the fragrance is mild for this rose, the vigorous growth habit and ability to keep blooming all summer make up for it.
Simply Color® Grandiflora Rose Care
Grandiflora roses appreciate full sun and moist, well-draining soil. A neutral to alkaline pH is acceptable, as is an average soil texture. Keeping roses well watered for the first few years is very important. Allow for one inch of natural rainfall or supplemental irrigation per week. Drip irrigation or soaker hoses help to keep foliage dry and direct water to the root zone more efficiently than overhead watering. Fertilizing is only required once a season, early in the spring, as the first leaves develop. Use a granular, slow-release fertilizer explicitly made for roses to help support heavy blooming.
Pruning Simply Color® shrub roses is very straightforward and only needs to be done once a season. Late in the winter or early in the spring, prune back any dead, diseased, or dying stems to the ground. If a reduction in height is needed, this is also the time to reduce branch length by up to a half. Always cut to just above a leaf bud to keep the stems tidy and less prone to disease.
Simply Color® Spacing
This shrub rose has a medium growth rate and mature size. Simply Color® will reach a height of 4-5 feet and a spread of 2-3 feet. Space plants 3 feet apart from each other to allow for good air circulation between plants.
