Growing Zones
This Weigela is similar to the Classic Wine and Roses Weigela, just more compact. It is known for its luscious dark purple foliage and its beaming pink flowers. This is the perfect addition if you need a brilliant edger. It is very easy to care for and deer resistant.
The foliage is the talk of the town. It has gorgeous deep purple foliage that goes perfectly with the bright pink blooms it produces in the spring. This deciduous shrub grows as wide as it is tall reaching a garden height of twenty-four to thirty- six inches and a spread of twenty-four to thirty-six inches. Use your new Weigela in your landscape as a focal point, mixed borders, mass planting or foundation planting.
Spilled Wine Weigela Care
As with other Weigelas, the Spilled Wine Weigela is also easy to care for. It needs to receive minimum six hours of sun a day, plant in full sun. It requires moist, well drained soil. This Weigela is adaptable to all soil types with varying PH level. Apply a slow release fertilizer in early spring that is specific to shrubs. Pruning should take place right after flowering is finished for the season.
Spilled Wine Weigela Spacing
Be sure to space your Spilled Wine Weigela 36” to 48” inches, center on center. Proper spacing is important when planting in proximity to ensure room to grow and healthy roots.
