The new generation of sun-loving impatiens has arrived. Sunpatiens® Compact Coral Pink Impatiens deliver a blast of saturated color to any container or garden bed in either full shade or full sun. The juicy coral flowers contrast with the dusky dark foliage to give this annual plant a tropical mood. Even though this plant is short in stature, it has an exceptionally long blooming period and will dependably flower from early spring to the first frost of fall.
Plant Sunpatiens® in virtually any container, including hanging baskets, to provide interesting foliage and flower shapes. Compact Coral Pink also gives the front of a garden border a definitive edge no matter if it is in full sun or shade. All Sunpatiens® varieties have high resistances to pests and diseases. Compact Coral Pink does not require continual deadheading, as these plants are fairly self-cleaning.
Sunpatiens® Compact Coral Pink Impatiens Care
Sunpatiens® require a well-draining potting mix and consistent watering to grow well for months. Using a diluted liquid fertilizer every 2-3 weeks will enhance the foliage and flower color while promoting the formation of new buds. Water when the top 1-2 inches of potting mix have dried to ensure that the roots do not dry out. Although Sunpatiens® can be revived, repeatedly letting the plants dry out may reduce the overall health of the plant.
Although Sunpatiens® are typically grown as annual container and bedding plants, they are tender perennials in USDA zones 10-11. These beauties thrive in locations with high heat and humidity. To overwinter Compact Coral Pink Sunpatiens® indoors, place them in a south-facing window and provide plenty of humidity to offset dry air from central heating. Reduce watering and do not fertilize plants during the winter months. The plants may stop blooming temporarily when brought indoors but will resume once they are outdoors again in the spring.
Sunpatiens® Compact Coral Pink Impatiens Spacing
The compact size of Coral Pink Sunpatiens® makes them perfect for filling in gaps in planters and hanging baskets. They can be planted in low-profile dishes or saucers and used as living centerpieces on a table where their foliage detail and dense flowers can be appreciated up close. Space plants 12 inches apart to ensure good air circulation when planting in a garden bed.
