Surfinia Deep Red Petunia has beautiful deep red flowers. It blooms from late spring/early summer to hard frost for long-lasting color. Surfinia Deep Red Petunia grows quickly, so if the plant isn’t blooming when you plant it, blooms will start soon.
Surfinia Deep Red Petunia is heat tolerant and makes a good groundcover, container plant, and looks nice spilling from hanging baskets. Birds, butterflies, and hummingbirds will buzz around Surfinia Deep Red Petunia. When grown as a spiller in a container, the plant can trail 24-36 inches down the front.
Surfinia® Deep Red Petunia Care
Surfinia Deep Red Petunia does not need to be deadheaded as it self-cleans. It needs regular fertilization every other week to keep it at its best. Use a water-soluble fertilizer for containers and hanging baskets, with slow release being the fertilizer of choice for landscape plants. Surfinia Deep Red Petunia must be in full sun to grow and blossom.
A tender perennial native to South America, Surfinia Deep Red Petunia is grown as an annual in the United States. The plant will die at hard frost. It doesn’t overwinter in the house very well, so is usually allowed to die with new plants coming in the spring.
Surfinia® Deep Red Petunia Spacing
Surfinia Deep Red Petunia is low to the ground (3-6 inches) and has a moderate spread of 10-12 inches. It trails, as mentioned above, for 24-36 inches. When planting in the landscape and in containers, allow for a spacing of 10-12 inches.
