Canna Toucan Scarlet adds a tropical feel to your garden. Veined bronze foliage and bright red flowers bloom prolifically from planting until frost. This tall, upright beauty will thrive in containers or in the landscape. Fast growing, easy care and deer resistance makes this Canna a winner for any gardener.
If you have a spot in your garden that stays wet, this Canna is a great option. Not only do Cannas like water, they are a great option for a rain or bog garden. Considered semi-tropical, Canna Toucan Scarlet is both heat and humidity tolerant. Plant one in a container to steal the show as a Thriller and in the landscape to attract hummingbirds.
Toucan® Scarlet Canna Lily Care
Plant Canna Toucan Scarlet in part to full sun (4-6+ hours daily). Use an all-purpose, slow release fertilizer when planting in containers and landscape, and as they are heavy feeders, a water-soluble flowering plant food every two weeks at mid-season.
Whether you are planting this Canna in the landscape or in containers, make sure the soil is full of organic matter and well drained. For best results, keep the soil moist. Deadheading is not necessary, as Toucan Scarlet will continue to bloom, but taking off the seed pods will keep the plant looking tidy.
Toucan® Scarlet Canna Lily Spacing
Canna Toucan Scarlet reaches a height of 30-48 inches tall and has a spread of 18-24 inches. For best results space plants 18-24 inches. Use 1 Canna Toucan Scarlet in a container for a bold thriller.
