The Hydrangea macrophylla 'Violet Crown’ can grow to be five feet making it first choice for hedge planting. It is truly a gorgeous hydrangea, that does not compare.

The Hydrangea macrophylla 'Violet Crown’ has a foliage that is simple and green, it allows the blooms to really pop. The flowers that first bloom in early spring are absolutely stunning. Lime green, violet, and white. The violet and white around the edges give off a ‘crown’ like appearance. This hydrangea grows to a height of five feet. The spread of three to five feet. This hydrangea can be planted as a focal point for any landscape. It makes beautiful cut flowers; it makes a great hedge or border plant. The Hydrangea macrophylla 'Violet Crown’ does well when mass planted.

Violet Crown Hydrangea Care

A priority of this hydrangea is well drained moist soil. In times of drought be sure to water more regularly. Planting can be done in partial shade or partial sun. Four hours of sun per day is preferred. It is adaptable to all soil types and can tolerate different Ph levels. Pruning is necessary but can be done to shape or to maintain size. Remove all dead branches after new growth appears in the spring. All fallen foliage should be removed after flowering is done for the season. Apply plant specific fertilizer in early spring.
