Amazing Daisies® Spun Silk Shasta Daisy (Leucanthemum superbum) brings a whimsical twist to the classic daisy form. Each 3.5-inch bloom features fringed, narrow petals arranged in a spider-like shape, creating a graceful display in early to midsummer. The crisp white flowers contrast against sturdy, upright green foliage, standing at about 22 to 24 inches tall and 20 to 22 inches wide. This unique look adds texture to borders, containers, or cut-flower arrangements, and pollinators adore it.
Bred for long-lasting beauty, this award-winning variety remains easy to maintain. Resistant to common garden troubles and beloved by butterflies and bees, it excels in locations with ample sun. Use it for layered plantings, mass plantings, or as a focal point in cottage-style beds. Its medium height ensures a neat fit among other summer-blooming perennials.
Amazing Daisies® Spun Silk Shasta Daisy Care
Select a site with well-draining soil and a slightly acidic to neutral pH. Provide full sun—at least six hours of direct sunlight—although partial shade in hot afternoons can be beneficial. Water moderately, keeping the soil consistently moist without waterlogging, and fertilize with a balanced product in spring to encourage strong bud development. Deadheading spent blooms can encourage another wave of delicate spider-petaled flowers later in the season.
Once flowers fade for the season, trim the stalks near ground level. Container-grown Spun Silk daisies may require more frequent watering, particularly in peak summer. For cold climates, apply a thin mulch layer after the first hard frost, and cut back old foliage to reduce overwintering pests. Divide clumps every two or three years in early spring if growth starts to wane..
Amazing Daisies® Spun Silk Shasta Daisy Spacing
Space individual plants 20 to 22 inches apart when creating rows or mass plantings in a flower bed or border. For potted specimens, aim for a container about 10 to 12 inches wide, giving the root system enough room to establish. Size up the pot every 1-2 years.
