Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form (Lavandula stoechas 'Anouk') brings a unique, elevated look to patios, entryways, and garden spaces with its classic lavender blooms perched on a neat standard trunk. Rich purple flower heads are topped with signature “rabbit ear” bracts, creating a soft, eye-catching display that also releases a pleasant fragrance. This tree form version adds height and structure, topping out around 3 feet tall and 15–18 inches wide, making it an ideal focal point in containers or small garden beds.
Beyond its ornamental appeal, this Spanish lavender attracts bees and butterflies while naturally resisting deer thanks to its aromatic foliage. Its Mediterranean roots give it excellent tolerance to heat and drier conditions once established, and it’s a strong pick for hot, humid summers where many other lavenders struggle. Whether placed on a patio, flanking a walkway, or used as a centerpiece in a container arrangement, this tree form offers a refined way to enjoy lavender’s color and fragrance throughout the growing season. Blooms can also be harvested for drying or fresh-cut arrangements.
Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form Care
Plant in spring after hard freezes pass, or in early fall where winters are mild, giving it full sun and plenty of air movement around the canopy. Space standards about 30–36 inches apart, keep the crown slightly above soil level, and use lean, fast-draining soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (about 6.7–7.5). If you have clay, amend heavily with grit or plant on a mound so water never lingers. Deadhead spent spikes through the season, then lightly shear after a bloom flush to keep the rounded top dense, avoiding deep cuts into old woody stems.
Growing Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form
Expect flowering to start in early summer and continue through late summer with repeat flushes when you stay on top of trimming. Give it the same footprint it wants as a shrub, but remember the head needs clearance too, so don’t crowd it against a wall where humidity gets trapped. If you’re in zone 6, winter success is mostly about keeping roots dry, so raised planting and gravel mulch usually outperform bark mulch.
Growing Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form in Containers
This variety is made for pots, and container growing is also the easiest way to protect it in colder winters. Use a 16–20 inch pot with a gritty mix, and repot every 2–3 years to refresh the soil and keep roots from staying too wet. In containers, it plays the filler role under taller seasonal color. Include rosemary and thyme in the same pot for a dry-soil herb combo, and if you’re planting it in the landscape, echo the look with agapanthus and sedum for a sun-baked, low-water bed.
Watering Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form
Water deeply at planting and keep it lightly moist while it roots in; switch to letting the mix dry down between waterings once established. Limp new growth and fewer blooms usually point to shade or soggy soil more than thirst, so check drainage before you add more water.
Feeding Anouk Spanish Lavender Tree Form
Feed lightly in spring with a low-to-moderate, slow-release fertilizer, or top-dress with a small amount of compost. Too much fertilizer makes it leafy and loose, and can reduce flowering and shorten the life of the plant.
