Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift, or Armeria pseudarmeria, features delicate globe-shaped lavender and rose-pink florets atop grass-like greenish stems. More commonly known as sea thrift, this showy perennial has been bred to bloom from spring until fall’s first frost. Low maintenance and easy to grow, this gem will put smiles on the faces of busy gardeners hoping to add color, texture, and movement to containers, borders, and garden beds.

Native to the Northern Hemisphere’s rocky seashores, Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift is salt, drought, and heat tolerant. This selection is cold hardy, relatively disease resistant, and compact, growing to just 10-12”. It grows well in containers with other blooming annuals and perennials. Fill empty space in your yard with this attractive evergreen. It is also an excellent option for alpine and rock gardens. Trim its pale purple and pink florets to enjoy indoors from spring until fall.

Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift Care

Plant this sea thrift during spring in full sun. While tolerating various soil types, Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift prefers well-drained soil with low fertility. Improve poorly draining soil with compost. For potted plants, apply a fertilizer every two weeks. This showy ornamental needs an inch or less of water weekly.

Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift is low maintenance and does not require regular pruning. During late winter or early spring, trim dead foliage. Remove spent flowers monthly.

Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift Spacing

Space plants 12-14 inches apart along sidewalks and in beds. In a container, Armeria Dreameria® Sweet Dreams Thrift is best suited as either a filler or thriller in a thriller-spiller-filler combination. Plant with companions such as catmint, lamb’s ear, and Russian sage.
