Babylon Beauty Boxwood, also known as Buxus Hybrid ‘HER2010B04’, distinguishes itself with an attractive low, spreading shape and lush, lighter green foliage. Mature plants reach around 3 feet tall and 4 to 5 feet wide, creating a full, dense look without overwhelming nearby plantings. Its year-round greenery make it an excellent option for foundation plantings or a shapely border. Whether set as a focal specimen or massed for dramatic effect, this broadleaf evergreen delivers constant visual appeal with minimal fuss.

Babylon Beauty Boxwood features robust disease resistance that puts boxwood blight worries at ease. It also handles common pests more effectively than many other boxwood cultivars, reducing the need for frequent chemical treatments. Plant it as a short hedge, a formal accent, or in stylish patio containers—its versatile growth habit transitions seamlessly between classic and modern settings.

Babylon Beauty Boxwood Care

Select a well-drained planting site in full sun to partial shade for best results. Loamy or sandy soil works well, especially if it’s slightly acidic or neutral, but amend heavy clay with organic matter to improve drainage. Regular watering is vital during the establishment phase, while mature shrubs can handle moderate dry spells. A balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring supports healthy growth; too much fertilizer, however, could lead to weak branching. A 2 to 3-inch layer of mulch helps with moisture retention and discourages weed competition.

Pruning seldom requires more than an occasional light trim to keep its naturally rounded form. If necessary, prune in late winter or early spring to remove any damaged twigs or to shape new growth. Pruning later in the season may stimulate tender shoots that struggle in colder climates. For container-bound specimens, periodic clipping to maintain size can also be performed after new growth appears.

Babylon Beauty Boxwood Spacing

When creating a hedge, place Babylon Beauty Boxwood about 3 feet apart for quick fill-in. For looser groupings, space them up to 5 feet to maintain defined borders or individual silhouettes. If growing it in a container, choose a pot at least 2 inches wider than the current root ball, ensuring good drainage and room for the shrub’s roots to expand.
