Growing Zones
Take in the show around mid-May when the Blaauws Pink Azalea blooms, and this perennial shrub is covered in salmon-pink flowers. The light pink petals feature subtle specs of dark pink near the base for added color and detail. This upright plant has dark green glossy oval-shaped foliage that provides a striking contrast against the showy blooms. The greenery stays in place throughout the growing season, even after the flowers fade.
This shrub is a perennial in USDA growing zones 5 through 8. Plant the Blaauws Pink Azalea along foundations, in borders or hedges, or use it in a container. This plant also makes a wonderful focal point or specimen planting. The blooms of this low-maintenance Azalea attract butterflies and hummingbirds for added convenience.
Blaauws Pink Azalea Care
This shrub requires full sun to partial shade. For optimal growth, use moist but well-drained soil with high organic content. This plant is not very fussy about soil pH, but it will perform much better in acidic soil. Water weekly when the top few inches of soil begin to dry out.
This Azalea has a rounded growth habit, and it naturally maintains a good shape without the need to prune. Apply a slow-release fertilizer in the spring.
Blaauws Pink Azalea Spacing
The Blaauws Pink Azalea will grow 4 to 5 feet tall and 5 to 6 feet wide. Plants can be spaced 3 to 4 feet apart to create a hedge.
