Bobo® Hydrangea Tree is a standard form of the wonderful and incredibly floriferous BoBo Hydrangea. The tree version is grafted on a sturdy and very cold hardy trunk and makes a lovely addition to smaller gardens and container gardens on a patio or deck. The oversized pale green flowerheads completely obscure the foliage and are some of the longest-lasting blooms of this hydrangea type. Bobo will provide dense color and interest for your garden throughout the summer and well into fall.
The exceptionally sturdy stems of Bobo Hydrangea Tree hold the flowerheads upright with no staking or supports required. Bobo is virtually pest- and disease-free and extremely low maintenance. Plant it closer to the house or in areas with high traffic if deer are a concern. Bobo makes a superb focal point for a large mixed seasonal planter or a cottage garden border. The large flowers make great fresh-cut flowers and are easily dried for year-round display.
Bobo® Hydrangea Tree Care
Hydrangeas grow best in full sun to partly shaded locations. Provide at least 6 hours of full sun to support good flowering. Regular irrigation will be necessary through the growing season. Well-draining soil is important to keep the root system of hydrangeas healthy. Fertilize Bobo early in the spring as the new growth emerges. Formulations that have a balanced NPK ratio will support healthy foliage growth, heavy flowering, and good root formation. Look for extended-release mixes that have an NPK ratio of 10-10-10.
Bobo blooms on the current season's growth and should be pruned hard late in the winter. Remove any dead, dying, or diagonal crossing branches to open up the canopy. This increases air circulation. Make cuts just above a pair of leaf buds to keep the overall shape of Bobo compact and full.
Bobo® Hydrangea Tree Spacing
The Bobo Hydrangea tree stays compact, reaching 3-5 feet high. Space multiple Bobo trees 3-4 feet apart to give each plant adequate room. Potted Bobo trees will live quite happily in a pot with at least a 16-inch diameter.
