With dark bronze colored foliage and bluish-purple flowers, Geranium pratense is a great complementary plant to contrast other bright green foliage plants. Growing upright, it has a medium size of around 24”-26” tall and 28”-30” wide with a mounding habit. Its flowering will begin in early summer and will continue through late summer. This easy to maintain perennial is the perfect addition for those looking for a visual appeal within their garden.

Pollinator friendly, your local bees will be thrilled with this addition! It is resistant to deer and rabbits. Insects and diseases are not a common worry as it is naturally resistant to these nuisances . Once its roots are established, the soil can go dry for a short amount of time without consistent watering. Use this perennial in mass plantings, bordering plantings, container gardening or as edging plants to create numerous visual effects throughout your garden.

Boom Chocolatta Hardy Geranium Care

Hardy to zones 4-8, it is an easy to maintain perennial. Plant this in partial to full sun, ensuring it has at least 4 hours of sunlight each day. This will thrive whether your soil quality is poor, average or fertile. Neutral or slightly alkaline soil will provide the necessary nutrients to encourage great growth and beautiful blooms.

After blooming is finished for the season, simply trim below the spent blooms. This allows new growth to flourish for the next season.

Boom Chocolatta Hardy Geranium Spacing

With its mounding habit, spacing is recommended to be 28”-30” on center. This allows the original plants, in any setting, adequate space to grow and still blend in with other plants. Container gardening can be achieved by companion planting about 12”-16” away from the center of the plant.
