Enjoy color well into fall with the Aster Kickin® Carmine Red. Daisy-like flowers have thin petals, but the double row of petals gives each bloom a full and lush appearance. The red flowers have a yellow center for an eye-catching colorway. This Aster is long flowering, and blooms will be displayed from late summer through fall. Thin green foliage mimics the size and shape of the flower’s petals but gives the shrub a dense appearance.
The Carmine Red Fall Aster has a compact, mounded growth habit. This perennial can create a vibrant border or add late-season color to a mixed bed. Grow this Aster in a container where it works as a filler. Butterflies enjoy the stunning blooms. The Carmine Red Fall Aster grows in zones 5 through 9.
Carmine Red Fall Aster Care
Plant the Carmine Red Fall Aster in full sun in loamy, well-drained soil. This plant needs one inch of water per week. Apply a balanced fertilizer each spring to support growth.
Trim leggy growth by mid-summer to encourage a more full and dense appearance. Remove all growth to ground level after the first frost.
Carmine Red Fall Aster Spacing
The Carmine Red Fall Aster grows 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Space plants 2 to 3 feet apart to create a dense and continuous planting.
