The eye-catching foliage of the Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks is a bold cherry red that you cannot help but notice. This Sempervivum Chick Charms® 'Jubilee™' is a bright cherry red color in the spring and transitions into a deeper red as the summer progresses. The thick, fleshy foliage comes to a pronounced point and grows in a rosette formation.
Sempervivum has a low form, so this plant works well near the front of a mixed bed or border, or mixed with other succulents in a container. Pair the Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks with plants that have red flowers or accents for a complementary and curated look. This low-maintenance plant is deer resistant for added peace of mind.
Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks Care
The ideal location for the Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks will have full sun. Plant it in average or low-quality soil that drains well. This succulent has low water needs and is drought tolerant but appreciates water when the soil dries out. Fertilization isn’t necessary, especially if grown in average garden soil.
After blooming, the plant sends out pups or offshoots, and the parent plant will naturally decline. Remove faded plants, creating more space for the offshoots to grow. Protection from winter weather is unnecessary, but move potted plants to a protected area.
Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks Spacing
The Cherries Jubilee™ Hens and Chicks reaches 2 to 3 inches tall and 12 inches wide. Space plants 12 inches apart, center on center, to create a continuous planting.
