The botanical name is Ajuga reptans, but this plant is also called carpet bulge. The glossy, elliptical foliage is green with some random copper and bronze hues, providing additional color. Fragrant indigo flowers bloom in spring or early summer.

The Chocolate Chip Bugleweed is a dwarf variety with a spreading growth habit. This shade-tolerant plant excels as a groundcover.
