The Cityline® Vienna Hydrangea by Proven Winners ColorChoice® is part of a new collection of hydrangeas with fantastic new bloom colors! This bigleaf hydrangea macrophylla has pink or blue depending on the soil pH. The strong stems hold up dark green leaves and big mophead flowers.

This bush is small and compact and grow into a nicely shaped mounded plant. No pruning required and it requires minimal care. The leaves are mildew resistant and the plant is also salt tolerant, and great for growing near the ocean!

Cityline Vienna Hydrangea Care

This plant requires well drained soils, but can adapt to a wide range of soil types. We recommend adding compost to the soil when planting. You should also apply a layer of mulch to the base of the plant to help protect shallow roots in the winter, and retain moisture in the summer. These plants do require a lot of moisture, but cannot handle “wet feet”. That is why well drained soil is so important.

Pruning the Cityline Vienna Hydrangea is not necessary. This shrub is already very small and compact, and pruning could mean you are cutting off flower buds that will produce the beautiful flowers. You can trim off dead or sick branches throughout the year as needed.

Fertilize this shrub using common slow release fertilizer in early spring before new growth starts to emerge. The fertilizer should be designed for woody plants such as roses or trees.

Cityline Vienna Hydrangea Spacing

Space these shrubs 2 to 4 feet apart, center on center. If you want to plant these in a landscape border or tiny hedge, you can plant these 18 to 24 inches apart, center on center. Use the same spacing regulations when using more than 1 hydrangea per garden planter.
