Green Mountain Boxwood is a hardy evergreen shrub with bright green foliage that retains its color throughout harsh winters. Its upright, pyramidal form sets it apart from rounder boxwood varieties, and it naturally stays dense and lush with minimal pruning. Reaching around 6 feet tall and 4 feet wide, it fits effortlessly into foundations, hedges, or decorative containers. This deer- and rabbit-resistant plant also adapts well to different soil types and tolerates partial to full sun, making it a versatile choice for your garden or landscape.
Many people enjoy turning the Green Mountain Boxwood into a festive holiday feature. Its evergreen leaves add a fresh pop of color indoors, and the pleasant, subtle fragrance can be a welcome touch during winter. When the season ends, it transforms into a thoughtful spring planting gift that continues to thrive outdoors.
Holiday Green Mountain Boxwood Care
In winter, place your boxwood away from heating vents and in a location with bright, indirect light. Water sparingly but consistently, ensuring the soil remains lightly moist without becoming waterlogged. Maintain moderate humidity if possible, and apply a balanced fertilizer once the growing season resumes in early spring.
Once conditions allow, prepare your outdoor space by digging a hole about twice the width of the root ball, leaving the top of the root ball at or slightly above ground level. Backfill gently and water well to settle the soil, then apply a layer of mulch to help preserve moisture. Provide partial shade if your area experiences very hot afternoons, and water thoroughly during dry spells to establish strong, healthy roots.
