Spring Grove® Arborvitae (Thuja plicata ‘Grovepli’) forms a neat, pyramidal shape topped by glossy, dark-green needles that hold their color even during harsh winters. It’s admired for its rapid growth, often reaching heights of 25 to 30 feet, yet it remains narrower than many other conifers, making it a standout choice for privacy screens. Deer tend to steer clear of its aromatic foliage, reducing the frustration of unwanted browsing. This robust evergreen also brings beauty to your yard year-round, requiring only minimal upkeep for a polished appearance.

A live Spring Grove® Arborvitae is wonderful for festive décor in December. You can keep it inside for a while, enjoying the subtle natural fragrance and lush greenery. Once the holidays fade, simply transition it outside where it will continue to thrive as part of your landscape. Avoid the hassle of discarding an artificial piece and instead watch this living holiday accent enhance your yard for seasons to come.

Holiday Spring Grove® Arborvitae Care

Keep your arborvitae in a bright spot indoors from January until your region’s last frost, watering only when the topsoil feels slightly dry. If the indoor air is particularly dry, light misting or a humidity tray can help prevent needle browning. Rotate the container occasionally to maintain a balanced shape on all sides.

After danger of frost has passed, move your Spring Grove® Arborvitae outdoors for a few hours a day to acclimate it to the changing weather. Then, plant it in a sunny or partially shaded spot with moist, well-drained soil—avoid low-lying areas prone to standing water. Water thoroughly at planting and mulch around the base to preserve moisture while keeping the root flare exposed. Over time, this steadfast evergreen will reward you with a lush, deer-resistant screen or focal point in your garden.
