Coral Star Honeysuckle (Lonicera Coral Star) stands out with trumpet-shaped blooms in apricot, coral, and yellow tones, imparting a tropical fragrance that lingers in early summer air. This fast-growing vine reaches around 10 to 12 feet high and 6 to 10 feet wide, providing a lush focal point on trellises, fences, or arbors. Its healthy dark green foliage remains semi-evergreen in milder climates, adding visual interest year-round. The bright blossoms are pollinator magnets, drawing hummingbirds and butterflies to the garden.

Coral Star Honeysuckle tolerates different soil types and requires minimal fuss once established. Originating from hardy breeding lines, it thrives in USDA Zones 5 to 9, adapting to full sun or partial shade. The fragrant flowers add a cheerful note to containers when supported by a climbing frame, or use it as ground cover to create a lush carpet of color. This honeysuckle’s deer resistance and moderate drought tolerance further simplify its care. Use it to mask unsightly spots or provide seasonal charm in mixed borders or near patios.

Coral Star Honeysuckle Care

Plant Coral Star Honeysuckle in well-drained soil and choose a site with at least six hours of sunlight per day for the most prolific blooms. Water deeply during the plant’s first growing season, then reduce the frequency once it settles in, keeping an eye out for prolonged dry spells. An all-purpose fertilizer applied in early spring supports healthy vines and consistent flowering. Slightly acidic to neutral pH soils work best, with added organic matter or compost to enhance growth. A layer of mulch around the base helps maintain moisture and protects the root system in colder regions.

Prune in early spring, right before new growth emerges. Light shaping or removal of any winter damage keeps the vine tidy and encourages fresh stems that carry next season’s blooms. Container-grown plants may need a bit more pinching or thinning if space is limited. Winterizing can include trimming long shoots and laying mulch over the root zone, especially in colder zones.

Coral Star Honeysuckle Spacing

Allow at least four feet between each vine if creating a row along a fence or trellis. For mass plantings or ground cover, space them four to five feet apart to give each plant ample room to sprawl. When growing Coral Star Honeysuckle in a container, select a pot at least 16 inches in diameter with a sturdy support for climbing. Adjust pot size as the plant matures, ensuring the roots have enough space for robust growth.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
