Best Locations For Growing Freckles Croton

This plant will grow well in front of a sunny window or on the patio in dappled sunlight. The growth rate will depend upon soil type, sunlight and temperature. Freckles Croton prefers a nighttime temperature above 60 degrees Fahrenheit and around 70-95 degrees Fahrenheit during the day. If the plant gets too cold, it will begin to lose its leaves. If planted in the soil outside, it's best to cover the plant during frost. Freckles Croton is hardy in zones 10-11 outside. This plant is toxic when ingested and should be placed out of reach of small children and pets.

Freckles Croton Sunlight Requirements

This vibrant plant thrives with a lot of sunlight. However, it will still grow well in partial shade or indirect bright light both inside and outdoors. If natural lighting is insufficient, artificial light can be used and is especially helpful during the darker winter months. Providing steady, warm temperatures will allow this plant to thrive.

Freckles Croton Care

A healthy Freckles Croton will retain its lower leaves. Plant it in a loose, well-drained soil that has been enriched with compost. Select a sturdy pot to anchor the plant as it matures. Indoors, this plant should be placed near a bright window, away from cold drafts. You can occasionally prune it for size. Low humidity can make this plant susceptible to spider mites.

Watering Freckles Croton

Keeping the Freckles Croton evenly moist will allow it to thrive. Apply about 1 inch of water per week. You can reduce watering during the winter months. If placed outside, it may require more water. Check the top couple inches of soil before watering. This plant prefers a humidity range of 60-80 percent.

Feeding Freckle Croton

Freckles Croton requires application of a slow-release fertilizer three times per growing season. Observe the plant’s growth to determine whether you need to dilute the fertilizer. Any quality liquid houseplant fertilizer will do the job.
