Growing Zones
Bring soft-sunset color to sunny spots with Fresco Apricot Coneflower. Compact and bushy, it covers itself in apricot-to-golden blooms that glow from summer into fall, drawing butterflies and adding gentle warmth to borders and pots. Tough by nature, it thrives where heat and dry spells would stop fussier flowers.
This coneflower keeps a neat silhouette that plays well with grasses and low shrubs. Leave the seed heads standing for winter interest and songbird snacks, or snip a few stems for carefree bouquets without thinning the display.
Fresco Apricot Coneflower Care
Provide 6–8 hours of direct sun daily. Plant in well-drained soil; sandy or loamy mixes are ideal with a pH of 6.0–7.5. Water regularly the first few weeks, then water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry; established plants are drought tolerant. Feed lightly in spring with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer or a compost top-dress to avoid excess foliage at the expense of flowers.
Deadhead spent blooms to speed rebloom, or leave late-season heads for birds. Cut stems back to basal growth in late fall or early spring. Hardy in USDA zones 4–9; in heavy clay, amend with grit to improve drainage. Suitable for containers with a quality potting mix and good drainage.
Fresco Apricot Coneflower Spacing
For a single specimen, allow a 16–20 inch circle. For mass plantings or edging, set 12–16 inches on center to knit into a low, colorful drift. Keep at least 12 inches from paths for flower clearance.
In containers, choose a 12–14 inch wide pot at least 10–12 inches deep with drainage; plant one per pot for best form and place in full sun with good airflow. No staking needed under normal conditions.
