This gives you months of flowering. What's more, the shrub's foliage starts out lime green in spring and transitions to a bright golden color in summer. The change in leaf color and nearly continuous blooming make this a modern and dynamic version of the traditional weigela.

Sonic Bloom Ghost Weigela grows to nearly 5 feet high and 4 feet wide, depending on conditions. A tall weigela like Sonic Bloom Ghost Weigela makes a perfect backdrop to other plants or a border plant. For best flowering and foliage color, plant your weigela in a sunny or partially sunny spot. Weigela is hardy in zones 4 through 8 and is deer resistant. Sonic Bloom flowers emerge in spring, adding bursts of rich red above the colorful branches.

Sonic Bloom Ghost Weigela also can hold its own as a prominent plant in spring through fall. The leaves drop in winter but reappear each spring. All you have to do is choose a spot in your landscape that gets at least 6 hours of sun a day and plant in soil that drains well. Add a little mulch below the plant and water regularly for best results. You can add a slow-release fertilizer made for shrubs and trees to an early spring watering. Prune your weigela after the final flowers begin to fade.
