Graziella Maiden Grass has a fine texture but makes a big statement in a landscape. The thin blades of grass have an upright growth habit and create a gentle arching form. In late summer, this grass blooms, and the flowers resemble silvery white plumes. Miscanthus sinensis changes its look again in the fall when the foliage turns a reddish-copper, and the flowers take on a more fluffy appearance.

This grass provides year-round interest, so feature it in a highly visible spot. The grass and the flowers add texture and movement to a bed or border. This plant is a great focal point and can also define an area when planted in groups. Dry the flowers for use in arrangements. Graziella Maiden Grass is drought tolerant and easy to maintain. Grow this plant as a perennial in zones 5 through 9.

Graziella Maiden Grass Care

Plant this grass in full sun to partial shade. New plants need consistent water to develop a robust root system, while established plants are drought tolerant and need minimal supplemental water. The soil should be rich and moist and allow drainage. Feed this plant using a balanced fertilizer in the spring.

This ornamental grass will readily self-seed, so some gardeners remove the flowers before they set seeds. Trim the growth in late winter or early spring to 3-6 inches above soil level, which will encourage new and full growth.

Graziella Maiden Grass Spacing

This plant has an upright, clump-forming growth habit and will reach 5 to 6 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. Space plants 3 to 4 feet apart when creating a mass planting.

great choice as hedges in my backyard

Posted by Dorothy Murphy on Jan 11, 2023

Its deep green color provides a great contrast to my fence and really adds to the overall aesthetic of my yard. I would highly recommend this grass for anyone looking for an attractive and low-maintenance grass option for their backyard!
