Hollywood Hibiscus™ America's Sweetheart™ Tropical Hibiscus (Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'JBG 19110') shows off pink petals highlighted by a dark pink center. This sun-loving shrub often reaches three to four feet tall, delivering steady color through the warm seasons. Its two-tone flowers draw attention among other tropical varieties, and it brings a unique splash of soft hues wherever it’s placed.

This evergreen plant stays lush in mild regions and attracts pollinators with its open blooms. Deer tend to leave it alone, and we’ve seen strong performance with moderate watering habits. America's Sweetheart™ adapts well to patio containers, borders, or even mass groupings. Use it as a focal point in outdoor living spaces or to brighten a garden nook.

Hollywood Hibiscus™ America's Sweetheart™ Tropical Hibiscus Care

Provide fertile, well-draining soil that hovers between a slightly acidic and neutral pH. Full sun enhances flower production, though partial shade may help in areas with scorching mid-afternoon rays. Water thoroughly once the top inch of soil has dried, and feed with a balanced fertilizer through the growing season. Container-grown plants often need additional watering attention, especially during peak heat.

Light pruning keeps the shrub tidy, and removing any leggy growth in spring encourages fresh branching. We’ve noticed minimal trimming is necessary once the shrub is well established, though shaping in late winter can be useful. In colder zones, move potted specimens indoors before frost or house them in a heated greenhouse. Choose pots with reliable drainage, and repot as roots expand, refreshing the potting mix when needed.

Hollywood Hibiscus™ America's Sweetheart™ Tropical Hibiscus Spacing

Leave four feet between shrubs for a healthy row or mass planting, which supports development of a full form. A container measuring at least 16 inches across suits a newly purchased plant.
