Growing Zones
Roses are red and this one’s a breeze to grow. It’s A Breeze (Rosa Hybrid ‘Meigremlis’) is a groundcover rose that re-blooms all summer and well into fall. Deep red and fragrant flowers appear on dark evergreen foliage. At less than 3 feet high and 3 to 4 feet wide, this little rose creates pretty hedge, border, and mass planting effects. Add another one to a large container or near a path just to enjoy the all-season color and scent.
Clusters of red flowers begin to appear in spring and attract pollinators. They require little maintenance, but you can cut the flowers to bring inside, just to enjoy them more. The rose is cold hardy, growing for gardeners in zones 4 through 11. It loves sun and is highly disease resistant. The low growth habit and numerous red blooms make this rose just as special as a standalone, featured plant or when several form a seamless border or groundcover.
It's A Breeze Rose Care
Plant your groundcover rose where it gets plenty of sun, at least 6 hours a day. Water it deeply a few times a week to help the roots establish themselves, and then once more mature, it has low-water needs. During peak drought and heat, water your rose a little more often. Each spring, feed the plant with a slow-release fertilizer to give it a blooming boost.
Place your new rose in a hole at least twice the size of its original container. Plant it so the crown is an inch or two above soil level and water, refilling the hole with more soil if necessary to make it level. Add an inch or two of organic mulch around the plant, but keep the main stem clear.
It's A Breeze Rose Spacing
For seamless borders or mass plantings, space your roses about 1 to 2 feet apart to grow closely to one another. In other uses, space the center of each rose at least 3 feet apart for separation.
