Juliet Cherry Tree delivers dessert-quality cherries on a compact frame that fits almost anywhere. Spring brings clouds of blush-white flowers, followed by deep red fruit with a naturally high sugar level that eats fresh, bakes beautifully, and freezes well.
Cold-climate gardeners love Juliet for its toughness and dependable crops. The tidy, dwarf habit suits small yards and large containers alike, so you can harvest bowls of cherries without dedicating half the garden to a full-size tree.
Juliet Cherry Tree Care
Plant in full sun (6–8 hours) and well-drained soil with a pH around 6.0–7.0. Water deeply to establish, then soak during dry spells—keep moisture steadier from bloom through fruit fill. Top-dress with compost in spring and feed lightly with a balanced, slow-release fertilizer; avoid heavy nitrogen that encourages leafy growth over fruit.
Prune in late winter to remove dead or crossing wood and to keep a light, open center; take off any suckers at the base. Hardy in USDA Zones 2–7; consider bird netting as fruit colors up.
Juliet Cherry Tree Spacing
Expect roughly 6–8 ft tall and 5–7 ft wide at maturity. As a single specimen, allow 7–8 ft of open space so light reaches all sides. For a fruiting hedge, plant 5–6 ft on center. Keep 3–4 ft from fences or paths for airflow and easy picking.
In containers, choose a sturdy 18–24"+ diameter pot with excellent drainage and position planters 2–3 ft apart.
