Lo and Behold 'Purple Haze' Butterfly Bush loads all of the benefits of a butterfly bush into a smaller package, plus it's sterile. Since Lo and Behold does not set seed, it can't become invasive, a problem in some areas of the country with older butterfly bush (Buddleia) varieties. Lo and Behold 'Purple Haze' grows shorter and wider than most upright butterfly bushes, so it also can form a low border in the landscape, with several planted near one another. Its fragrant, purple-blue flowers form in summer in long-cone-shaped bursts of color. Yet another bonus? Butterfly bushes need no deadheading; the flowers keep forming all season. And once the shrub is established, it can handle drought and keep on flowering.

Plant your Lo and Behold 'Purple Haze' Butterfly Bush in full sun and soil that drains well. Each spring, prune the branches down to where you see new leaves forming, fairly close to the ground.
