Do you find yourself blankly staring at an empty space in your home or office that’s begging to be filled with color and height? If so, then, Marginata Cane Dracaena, otherwise known as Dragon Tree, is ready to come to your rescue. This tropical plant, native to Madagascar, has palm-shaped, emerald leaves etched in crimson and a unique trunk that is visible above your pot’s soil. Growing as tall as 7 feet, this tenacious, minimal fuss evergreen is also the ideal choice for any gardening newbie or person who has little free time to spare.

Best Locations For Growing Marginata Cane Dracaena

Marginata Cane Dracaena thrives in bright to medium, indirect light, temperatures ranging between 70° to 80° F, and humidity levels ranging between 60% to 80%. Take caution, as Marginata Cane Dracaena is toxic to dogs and cats.

Marginata Cane Dracaena Sunlight Requirements

Marginata Cane Dracaena prefers medium to bright, indirect light. While this topical evergreen can also survive periods of low light, its leaves can lose their variegated reddish etchings. Any room with south-facing, west-facing or east-facing windows will suffice; however, place this lovely house plant a few feet away from any windows with direct light.

Marginata Cane Dracaena Care

Marginata Cane Dracaena prefers loamy, acidic, well-draining soil. A good house plant potting soil amended with peat moss and perlite/coco coir should suffice.

While Marginata Cane Dracaena does not require frequent pruning, dead leaves should be trimmed in order to promote growth and prevent disease. Pinching your plant at the growth tips is recommended for promoting bushier growth.

This slow-growing, broadleaf evergreen will normally need to be repotted only every two to three years, preferably at the beginning of the growing season. Simply select a pot that is one to two inches bigger than the old pot.

Watering Marginata Cane Dracaena

This drought-tolerant tropical does not require frequent watering. Check for moisture before watering: insert your finger 1 to 2 inches into the soil and water if it is dry. If not, wait one to two days to conduct another moisture check. These moisture checks will help prevent fungal disease.

Feeding Marginata Cane Dracaena

Feed your Marginata Cane Dracaena a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer once a month except during this plant’s dormant period during the autumn and winter months. Watch for leaves that are turning brown; this may be an indication of over-fertilizing. During the flowering season, switching to a low-nitrogen fertilizer will prove beneficial to encouraging bigger and more vibrant blooms.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
