Growing Zones
This native grass has so many benefits that make it stand out from other ornamental grasses. Beginning as a welcoming green in the spring, this grass blooms to brown in the summer, offering a nice and natural contrast. This low maintenance perennial is both valuable and versatile. It can offer height juxtaposition within containers, as well as ground cover within a landscape.
This perennial grass is hardy within zones two to nine. Path Rush Grass is resistant to deer, while also offering seed for birds, and a habitat for amphibians. It’s useful in both form and function, and it acts as a filler for bouquets but also can be used for erosion control in sloped gardens. Low maintenance is the character of this perennial grass, and it can simply be used in whatever way that fits your garden.
Path Rush Grass Care
Path Rush Grass can be planted in either full sun, or partial sun. It prefers moist, well drained soil, however it will do well in wetlands, and bogs provided it’s offered enough light. It is also known to thrive within a water garden. This grass spreads slowly, and would benefit from a gentle fertilization.
This grass can be trimmed according to personal preference. It spreads slowly, and can grow quite tall if not trimmed. If trimmed, it will likely take some time to grow back enough to flower.
Path Rush Grass Spacing
As mentioned previously, this grass is versatile. It can grow anywhere from six inches, to two feet in height. Due to its tall and spreading nature, it is necessary to space each plant by at least six inches.
